Morgan Arnold 09/02/10 (Outside Readings/Observation Blogs) Birthday blessings

A couple days ago was my birthday. I turned twenty-two years old. I received the usual birthday gifts: drinks from friends, flowers from a boy, and the cards with dollar bills tucked inside from grandparents. But the greatest gift that I received was from my father. He sent a recorded message of him reading a letter that he wrote for me, along with several Bible versus. This is truly priceless to me. I know this is not a class reading or anything, but this message got me thinking how special spoken words are and how this is a timeless tradition. I know that in this class we will be looking at oral cultures and how they communicate. I am sure that we will find some of them writing poetry or singing songs to share love- I am glad that my dad has held on to the timeless tradition. It is truly appreciated and should never run out of style.
