If I was watching the news one day and the broadcaster suddenly announced that it was proven that ghosts existed on our plane my reaction would be ‘I know.’ This is not to say that I would not be surprised to find out that someone had finally figured out how to prove this to the world and also that they only existed in our plane. Ever since I was little I believed in ghosts and see them occasionally, so in terms of it affecting my beliefs it really would not have a huge impact. What would change though are my thoughts on what else is out there in the universe. This would come about with the information that ghosts only exist here. My beliefs contain the idea that there is so much else out there that human kind can not even fathom in the slightest what exist beyond where we are and what we know. If ghosts were proven to only exist in this plane than that would rework my thought that maybe we know everything else out there and that is all there is. This information would only really change that aspect of my religious beliefs.
Since I already believe that ghosts exist in everyday life it would not affect my day to day activities or thoughts other than in minor ways. I would try and be more respectful to the dead spirits knowing that this is all they have and the only place they exist. I would also try to find out or devise a way to see if they were happy being ghosts and if they were not trying to help them. Another way this would affect my life is that friends and family who are adamant about there not being ghosts would be extremely disturbed at this discovery. I would try and help them to understand this fact and help them accept the idea and show that it is not the ‘devil,’ but it is a natural occurring phenomenon that they are going to have to live with.
I truly wish that this proof did exist so the societies and people who already know that ghosts and these presences do exist would stop being judged in such a negative way. If this scientific evidence was discovered I think to would bring some sort of peace to people judging other societies at face value and make everyone understand the fact that ghosts do exist and these people are not crazy. This evidence also might bring about revitalization or an occult revival.
